We are very excited to be bringing you our new Glos Assistants Noticeboard this month! There’s been lots of work going on to make sure the website is ready to go live and Jennie and Stephanie, our Glos Assistants Coordinators, have already been busy around the county telling people about it!
Glos Assistants has been set up because we know how difficult it can be to find an assistant as a disabled person in Gloucestershire, whether you’re looking for an extra pair of hands to support your disabled child or you are a disabled adult looking for someone to help you with your personal care (or anything in between!). That’s why our website is a designated place where you can advertise for an assistant and browse current profiles of people who want to be assistants.
We are also working hard to get the word out to people who might want to be assistants so that they can sign up to Glos Assistants, put up their own profile and browse adverts. You will then be able to contact people you are interested in, and they can contact you, to discuss the role further.
Being an assistant can be an incredibly rewarding role, offering flexible hours, greater choice over when you work and the chance to build great relationships with the people you work with. We want to make sure more people know about these opportunities so that it becomes far easier to find a great assistant, and it opens up new possibilities for people looking for work!
We’ve already been at Jobs Fairs and the University of Gloucestershire’s Fresher’s Fair generating interest among people who want to be assistants. We’re also running monthly drop-in sessions around the county in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Coleford and Cirencester where you can find out more about being or using an assistant. Click here to find out where we’ll be when up until Christmas!
