Travel Training Project

This project consists of 3 opportunities that are available for Gloucestershire residents aged 18+ who identify as disabled such as physical, long term health condition, neurodiversity, mental health, learning disability or other. These are:

Travel Training

Personalised, practical support to learn specific journeys with a travel trainer who will accompany you on public transport until you are confident to travel alone.

Process:

  1. Complete a referral form
  2. Our co-ordinator will be in touch to arrange a ‘getting to know you’ assessment. This can be in person or via video call.
  3. You are matched with a trainer.
  4. For your first journey, the co-ordinator will accompany you and your trainer.
  5. You and your trainer continue to meet regularly (often once a week) until you are ready to travel independently.

Travel Companion Journey

If you don’t think you want to travel independently but could travel with the support of a companion to health appointments, events, or social outings one of our travel trainers can assist you (Travel support only). You are also welcome to try out a companion journey before committing to join the travel training.
